White House press secretary Sean Spicer: “We will be united behind whoever the candidate is” on a Trump Cabinet, or the president’s position on who’s on it might not be clear until the nominee’s made it through.
The Washington Post reports that President Trump’s advisor Stephen Bannon met Tuesday with the President’s chief of staff Reince Priebus to talk about “potential Cabinet members” for senior posts.
Reince Priebus, incoming White House chief of staff: “There will be no Bannon.”
A source close to Bannon tells the New York Times that some top officials have been anticipating the departure since December. They feared if Bannon held on too long, Trump would fire him or his allies.
Fox News reports that the chief of staff and Trump family want Steve Bannon out by early August. But a source said they do not see him going anywhere soon.
