Vaughan, Ontario (CNN) — A body was found in the backyard of a home Tuesday in Canada, possibly that of a man in his 70s, said the Toronto Police Service.

The death is under investigation.

The body was found at a home in Vaughan, a suburb outside Toronto, according to Alyn Simpson, a resident of the neighborhood.

The man was in his late 70s and his body was found in the backyard of a home, said Terri Dabrowski, a news assistant with the Toronto Police Service.

The condition of the body also raises the possibility it could be that of a woman, said Simpson, who lives in the neighborhood.

Neighbors saw a police van surrounding the home at about 10 a.m. ET, Simpson said.

Simpson said he heard officers yelling: “Who is here? Who is here?”

“My neighbor said ‘You guys, you have to have a dog walker, or you’re going to have to get an ambulance,’” Simpson said.

The homicide squad was at the scene.

The identity of the man has not been released.
