Meet the man who introduced blind football to Uganda
Tackling poverty is a challenge for most football clubs, but it was not the dream of one of Uganda’s top footballers.

Kibwana Kibwana is a professional footballer for Kabwata F.C, a big club in Uganda’s capital city, Kampala.
It is the third time he has been selected to play in the national team and he has represented his homeland at high levels in the past. A left footed midfielder who has played all across Uganda’s top clubs, Kibwana, who has been described as one of the best midfielders in the country after several years of football, has been named Uganda’s most promising young footballer in a recent selection.
As a footballer, he has been involved with the national team which was selected to start the tournament in June, 2019
He was even invited to be part of the squad which is scheduled to play at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
Kibwana, 27, who hails from a village in the southern part of Uganda, was one of the few selected for the national team, which has struggled in recent times without a single victory at the African Qualifiers. As one of the most talented players in the country, his team will try to go one step further in the upcoming Africa World Cup qualifiers against Liberia in the last round of the tournament.
He comes from a family that has been in football for over 15 years and has been playing professionally for almost nine years. In 2015, he joined Kabwata F.C where he is still playing now.
Kibwana is also the captain of his club as he led the team to win the Uganda Super Cup in a match that took place in December, 2018.
It was the first time the team reached the semi-finals of an Africa Championship in Uganda.
